Water has a very important function for living organisms on Earth. It acts as a source of hydration, a medium for chemical reactions, and nutrient transport in metabolic processes. Ecologically, water also serves as a living place for aquatic organisms. Hence, the importance of water is significant, and decreasing its quality and quantity may affect all organisms on Earth.
Anthropogenic reasons still play a major role in decreased water quality, such as poor waste management, which leads people to throw their waste directly into the water and change the function of forest areas. The ever-increasing rate of deforestation can cause a significant decline in water quality. Protecting forests indirectly also conserves water sources. To maintain the quality of clean water, maintenance and protection must be carried out. Apart from that, people are also expected to be able to use water wisely, one of which is by carrying out sustainable environmental management.
Water’s function is crucial for living organisms. Therefore, it is necessary to conserve water with sustainable environmental management to prevent negative impact of human activities on the quality and quantity of water.
